Now that US has withdrawn from Afghanistan literally turning a blind eye towards Pakistan’s invasion and its occupation of Afghanistan by its stooge Taliban,, its time to evaluate Biden’s speech of 31 Aug, because this speech gives an indicator of what US is upto and how Pakistan has placed itself in this region.
- While congratulating his military, intelligence and diplomatic staff for organising this withdrawal of 1,20,000 personnels successfully Biden mentioned that they made this possible knowing that ISIS-K terrorists, sworn enemies of the Taliban are lurking around.
Comments ; The Afghan Govt kept shouting its lungs out that Pakistani regulars are helping Taliban but this man made no efforts to save the Govt that was recognised by the world but was so keen to share intelligence with Taliban about the whereabouts of ISIS-K. This clearly indicates that He is outrightly and blatantly supporting Pakistan and India is likely to soon face the heat in Kashmir and Biden Govt Officials will be lecturing India on human rights violations in Kashmir. It will also not be surprising if Pakistan is out of the Grey list of FATF(Financial Action Task Force ) and funds would start flowing to Afghanistan Govt for resurrection of Afghan economy.
- Biden emphasised that ; Although We don’t take Taliban by their words alone but by their actions. And we have leverage to make sure those commitments are met.
Comments. How has he so confidently stated that He has a leverage over Taliban. What has he done that he enjoys that leverage? This confidence has come from Pakistan whom he has rewarded with entire Afghanistan.
- Time and again in his speech he insisted that his predecessor had signed a deal with Taliban that by 01 May US armed forces will be withdrawn , so the withdrawal could not be stopped indefinitely. Then he goes on to say that : What is the vital national interest? He states ; “ In my view, we only have one: to make sure Afghanistan can never be used again to launch an attack on our homeland. We achieved our aim when Bin laden was killed.”
Comments ;
One. Biden is a shrewd politican who knows how to palm off the responsibility. Many in military were suggesting that US must leave enough troops and airforce behind at Kabul which is able to provide support to Afghan security forces through air which would have kept Taliban at bay. But he did nothing. Now he is blaming the Afghan Govt for and its army for leaving the battle field.
Secondly, Terror organizations do not finish off like this. If mullah omar is no more that did not mean Taliban died. Death of Osama does not mean that terror organisations are all over. How is he sure that Afghanistan under Taliban will no more be used for terrorist activities. It once again indicates that He has handed over Afghanistan to Pakistan with a deal and assurance that Afghanistan will not be used against US. However, US is no more concerned if the Jehaids trained and groomed in madrasas of Afghanistan/Pakistan target France, Denmark, India etc.
Three ; This is an indicator that US is not serious about the war against terror and is more interested in its own National interests. However, the US institutions will continue to lecture other Nations on Human rights violations.
- Biden further said ; This is a new world. The terror threat has metastasized across the world, well beyond Afghanistan. We face threats from Al Shabab in Somalia, Al Qaeda affiliates in Syria and the Arabian Peninsula, and ISIS attempting to create a caliphate in Syria and Iraq and establishing affiliates across Africa and Asia.
Comments ; In that case How wise is this decision to hand over a huge territory to the terrorists and their mentors.
- He finally highlighted his new tactics of dealing with terrorism. He said ; We will maintain the fight against terrorism in Afghanistan and other countries. We just don’t need to fight a ground war to do it. We have what’s called over-the-horizon capabilities, which means we can strike terrorists without American boots on the ground, very few if needed.
Comments. Military History is replete with such examples during the course of evolution of warfare, when some arm chair military scholars thought that Boots on ground are no more required but they had to subsequently chew their words. When cavalry gained prominence these scholars thought that the infantry boots are not required but very soon they realised without the Boots on ground they cannot hold ground. Similarly when aircrafts came , many thought they do not need Boots on ground as they can bomb the enemy from air but then they also soon realised their mistake.
No enemy can be defeated without Boots on ground, and this is applicable for terrorists also.
- Lastly he does not find anything wrong with the way US forces have withdrawn.
Comments ; It would be wrong to call this as withdrawal , it was rather a Rout, a disorderly retreat conducted in haste, perhaps to reward its old ally.
Conclusion
There is a saying in Hindi ; AKAL PEY PATHAR PAREY HAIN ISKEY. Although it is too early but it is surely not unlikely that Biden may prove to be the worst President ever. Has the US administration given a thought as to how would it react to a similar situaion in Taiwan, if China also does the same as Taliban has done it in Afghanistan.
As of now as things stand today - the Chinese, the Russians for their own interests trying to garner leverage over Taliban through Pakistan and it becomes amply clear from Biden’s speech also that USA is also trying the same approach.
Prima facie it therefore appears that USA , China and Russia are riding piggy bank(back) on Pakistan inorder to gain leverage over Taliban and Pakistan is once again not going to mind this. It has in last five decades been doing this only for its sustenance ; giving piggy back ride to USA, China etc in return for money.
