The state of Manipur is currently grappling with widespread violence, Women wrestlers have been complaining of sexual harassment by their Federation Chief, who is a BJP man, which raises concerns about the government's commitment to protecting women's rights and addressing gender-based violence, Additionally, the country's freedom index is declining, the Rashtrawadi Organisation - Bajrang Dal is increasingly becoming aggressive and recently attacked local police officers in Indore and finally the resulting cycle of revenge and counter-violence has led to significant loss of life among both innocent Muslims and Hindus.
However, the government has shown no urgency in addressing these issues, which are eroding the foundation of the country. Despite criticism, the government has chosen to remain silent, as it has systematically devised a strategy to retain power. The salient aspects of that strategy are :
- Pursue Hindutva agenda vigourously through all possible ways ; building temples and corridors, similar to what was done in Varanasi and Ujjain, misguiding people on history, Clamour for Akhand Bharat and Hindu Rashtra and spreading Aurangzeb syndrome and so on.
- Instil fear in the minds of Hindus regarding Muslims.
- Lure the Western world with Business deals so that they remain silent as to what happens in India even the murder of tribals in Manipur.
- Organise the Indian diaspora abroad to project Mr Modi as a grand leader and also pursue the Hindutva agenda. Previously considered insignificant, However, their political relevance in their host countries has increased because Mr Modi's stage managed addresses to them. Those Indians Living abroad are neither concerned about the suppression of their fellow countrymen, nor the growing aggression of Bajrang Dal, nor the communal violence, nor the lack of justice for women wrestlers, nor the turmoil in Manipur. Their sole interest lies in their own political relevance abroad. None of them are going to return to India and so, It is sometimes amusing when the NRIs (Non-Resident Indians) inform us that India is developing at a very fast pace.
In view of the above, the Govt is happy remaining SILENT on all contentious issues as it feels confident that ; it has handed over the Right JHUNJHUNA of RELIGION to its Voter to play and nothing can dent the image of .......................
Lessons from history show that nations that stifle democracy and neglect the well-being of their people ultimately face ruin. While the West might have engaged with despotic and undemocratic regimes for business gains, the eventual downfall of such regimes serves as a reminder that prioritizing political relevance abroad at the expense of domestic issues can have dire consequences.
