Discipline in Society Could have saved Many Lives.

 
What we are witnessing today in our hospitals , in our society is the result of One very important aspect ; LACK OF DISCIPLINE.
People in civvy streets laughed and ridiculed Faujis for being DISCIPLINED. They called them rigid ; LAKEER KEY FAKEER. They think that Discipline only means ; Yes Sir.
But the fact is DISCIPLINE does not stop you from arguing, from discussing the matter...All it wants is ONCE AFTER THE DISCUSSIONS AND ARGUMENTS ARE OVER AND DECISION IS TAKEN ...THEN IT IS FOLLOWED BY ALL WITHOUT BEING QUESTIONED in letter and spirit.
Swapan Das Gupta in his very forthright article in 1998 in an English Journal - India Today had categorically written ; INDIANS LACK DISCIPLINE.
Discipline is not something that can be inherited, it is INCULCATED.
Behaviour is an outcome of the Rules and Procedures and Systems.
Unfortunately, in our country, we never paid any heed to the execution of laid down Rules and Procedures but rather took Pride in BREAKING THOSE.
The Administrative machinery also never bothered to inculcate this aspect amongst the citizens because they themselves were indisciplined and were enjoying in the deliberately created mess.
The net result is right in front of us.
No amount of Economic reforms, Industrial Reforms can make the Nation stronger UNLESS its people and its administration is DISCIPLINED.
This, i think will be the first Social ramification of the pandemic.
IF AS A NATION, AS A SOCIETY WE HAVE TO OVER COME THIS CHALLENGE OF COVID, The only way is BECOME DISCIPLINED.
If one person becomes Disciplined , he may advertently or inadvertently save the lives of many.
Lets learn from this bitter experience of Covid and become DISCIPLINED.
Disipline brings Harmony, it encourages Team work, it improves Quality, It helps in achieving desired Goals, Thats why it is commonly said ; DSICPLINE IS THE BACK BONE OF ANY SOCIETY.

Our journey as a modern nation statestarted in 1947 with the historic speech byPandit Jawaharlal Nehru, with 95% illiteracy, barely any industry and transport system, armed forces that were divided due to partition lacking equipment was largely in disarray, if there were guns- then the dial sights were taken away by Pakistanis, making the guns ineffective, if there were files- maps were taken way by Pakistanis, if there were battalions, half the men had gone away to Pakistan and so on.
