It is a documented fact that Aurangzeb was a religious zealot who demolished many temples, taxed the Hindus and committed untold miseries on them..
However, this fact is being circulated very often on SOCIAL MEDIA by Hindu zealots to instigate fellow Hindus urging them to UNITE and take revenge from Muslims for what had happened in 1658- 1707, approx. 400 years ago.
It would not be wrong to state here that these zealots suffer from Aurangzeb Syndrome.
Hindus are known to be poor historians and even now it appears that they are still the same, because they are once again failing to learn from history. Perhaps those who circulate such stories of Aurangzeb must have been poor in studies.
Lets have a Look what Aurangzeb's religious fanatism achieved ;
1. Aurangzeb’s religious fundamentalism created many enemies of Mughal empire and He had to as a result spend most of his life , almost 27 years away from Delhi fighting the Rebels ; the Sikhs, the Marathas etc to save his kingdom. Even Rajputs who had allied with Aurangzeb's father and great grand father were reluctant to support him.
2. So, what Akbar , Shahjehan had achieved by wining hearts and minds of people Aurangzeb’s religious fundamentalism not only led to violence and wars but also weakened the Mughal empire. Aurangzeb’s life was spent in laborious and fruitless sieges of forts and weakened his administration. Although he expanded his Empire but it was weak from within because of too many disgruntled elements and it soon fell apart after his death.
The Lesson is - if Aurangzeb was bad then why behave like Aurangzeb – Religious Fundamentalist. Religious fundamentalism only leads to creation of More Rebels, More disgruntled elements in the society, More Dis engaged people, More rivalries, More disputes, More Violence and finally weakens the administration.
The Hindus , instead must Wake up ! and ahould not behave like Aurangzeb, otheriwse, We will end up creating more disgruntled elements and disengaged people within.
