• In September first week, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Brunei and Singapore.
  • Visit to Brunei was part of well thought out India’s policy that has evolved over a period of time from ; Look East to Act East. “
  • Look East Policy was announced in 1991 by Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao to realign its Foreign policy necessitated by the end of cold war and disintegration of USSR. The policy's goal was to build economic and cultural ties with the region, particularly ASEAN.
  • Act East Policy Was an upgradation of Look East Policy necessitated by China’s rise and growing influence in the region. Hence , one of the objectives is to Establish a counterweight to China's assertiveness in the South China Sea and the Asia-Pacific .
  • Thus PM signed a few agreements related to mutual cooperation in agriculture, industry, pharma and health as well as technology and cyber security.

  • The Singapore visit of the Prime Minister was marked by agreements on semiconductors, digital technologies, health and skill development.

.

  • Supply disruptions during the recent pandemic and the geopolitical tensions due to China’s aggressive moves in Taiwanand the South China Sea have brought great urgency to India’s efforts to develop its own semiconductor ecosystem.
  • Also Given the critical importance of semiconductor chips in virtually everything from missiles to mobile phones and from cars to computers, the pact with Singapore has great geo-strategic and geo-economic importance.
  • Complexities of SEMICONDUCTOR INDUSTRY.
  • The semiconductor value chain is highly complex, involving a multitude of distinct stages that are geographically dispersed. The chain spans from material procurement to end-product manufacturing, with key processes including semiconductor R&D and chip design, fabrication, and assembly, testing, and packaging (ATP).
  • Semiconductor manufacturing is dominated by three types of chips: logic, memory, and analog. The sophistication of these chips is measured in nanometers, with the most advanced logic chips operating at 2–3 nm. Chips with 14 and 10 nanometers are currently in mass production, but the industry continues to aim for smaller node sizes. beyond 7nm, with companies like TSMC, Intel, and Samsung investing in 5nm, 3nm, and even 2nm technologies.

       India's Position.

  • We have only signed an MOU, on an India-Singapore Semiconductor Ecosystem Partnership. So it has to be seen How  any company or nation will part with such critical technologies which give them a technological edge over others.
Realising the imp of semi conductors India also launched its SEMI CONDUCTOR MISSION called ISM in 2021 with an investment of 10 Billion USD.
  • •The trade competition and tight control over supply and output by major chip manufacturers have contributed to Nations  vying for a slice of this lucrative market. Every nation ; European Union, United States, Japan , Korea, including India are enacting ambitious policies to bolster their semiconductor capabilities.
  • So far, India has attracted INR 1.5 trillion in semiconductor investments from major companies such as Micron, Tata Electronics, CG Power, and Kaynes Technology. A Micron semiconductor assembly, testing, marking, and packaging (ATMP) plant in Sanand, Gujarat, HAS BEEN SET UP.
  • Given its recent successes in attracting investment from companies like Micron, India is well-positioned to expand its role in the ATP segment. The proximity to the broader electronics manufacturing ecosystem, cost competitiveness, and supportive government policies can further boost India’s position in this market.
  • According to a report by the India Electronics and Semiconductor Association, the country’s semiconductor consumption is set to increase from $22 billion in 2019 to $64 billion by 2026 - a 16% CAGR. By 2030, semiconductor consumption is projected to nearly double again to $110 billion, positioning India to account for approximately 10% of global semiconductor demand. However right now India is importing the chips even for electronic devices mfr in India.

  • Given its mid level skill and mid level technological base india is likely to face the manpower shortage to tune of almost 3 lakh workers along many verticals. research and development (R&D), manufacturing, design, and advanced packaging, by 2027. all those aspiring for jobs must prepare themselves.

  •  Now, given the current levels of skills and technological base India will have to create a space for itself in this highly monopolised and competitive market.
  • As they say, Rome wasn’t built in a day. As evidenced by other countries' experiences, India could replicate the strategy of entering the semiconductor market through ATP and gradually moving up the value chain to fabrication and advanced semiconductor manufacturing, like China has done.
  • To establish an end-to-end semiconductor ecosystem, India can consider strategically moving across the industry value chain one domain at a time.

PM’s US Visit from September 21 to 23.

  • Attended a Business Roundtable with CEOs of leading US companies in the cutting-edge areas of Artificial Intelligence, semiconductors, quantum computing, and biotechnology,”
  • US President Joe Biden welcomed the progress towards India concluding the procurement of 31 long-endurance MQ-9B armed drones from American . Both vowed to boost two-way reciprocal supply of defence hardware .
  • He also attended the QUAD Summit and the joint statement issued Post summit may irk the Chinese . It criticsed the Chinese aggression in the South China Sea, as well as on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, where the leaders upheld the UN charter on sovereignty and territorial integrity.
  • The announcement of initiatives will no doubt raise Beijing’s ire: a “Quad-at-Sea Ship Observer Mission” for 2025, a Maritime Initiative for Training in the Indo-Pacific (MAITRI) and a “maritime legal dialogue” to support the “rules-based order”.
  • However, the ties faced unspoken tensions over the lingering effect of the Gurpatwant Singh Pannun case. including summons issued for NSA Ajit Doval in a civil suit and a White House meeting with Sikh activists who have campaigned against India — all before Mr. Modi’s arrival. The United States reiterated that it continues to expect accountability from India regarding the investigation in connection with the alleged assassination attempt on Khalistani terrorist, Gurpatwant Singh Pannun. The message from Washington appears to be that the Pannun case cannot be overlooked.

Disengagement on LAC.

  • External Affairs Minister recently stated that  75% of disengagement has been completed by India and China along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh.
  • The Chinese responded saying that both sides have undertaken disengagement from four areas in the border areas.
  • However, Addressing at the Asia Society Policy Institute, Mr Jaishankar said, “When I said 75 per cent of it has been sorted out, it’s only the disengagement. So, that’s one part of the problem. Some of the patrolling issues still need to be resolved and The next step will be de-escalation.”
  • few issues that need to be clarified by the Govt are ;
    • What does dis engagement mean , implying where were Chinese earlier and where have they withdrawn. Because LAC has different meaning to them and a different one for us. We the common man are not able to observe the proceedings , nor the media is allowed by the Govt nor the veterans are allowed to speak so where have the Chinese withdrawn to need to be clarified.
    • Which all areas they have disengaged from. Have they gone back from Depsang plains. And what are the terms of disengagement.
    • What is this Buffer zone and where it is going to be created. As per the reports emanating from Ladakhi grazers and their representatives, it is reported that our cattle grazers are now barred from grazing from Indian land as it has now become buffer zone. This in years to come will become Chinese territory as we will continue to keep compromising and Chinese will continue to grab areas inch by inch.
  •  Buffer zones by themselves are no panacea for peace, nor do they lead to any normalised border management. On the contrary, these mandate much higher levels of intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, as also positioning of reserves. Changes on LAC
  • Reportedly, significant changes in the Tibetan and Xinjiang region have taken place in recent years ; in terms of new dual-use infrastructure, side stepping of military formations from Xinjiang, which have now firmed in new semi-permanent habitat/bases and garrisons, demographic changes along the LAC/McMahon Line in the Northeast, with the creation of new villages. Now with Buffer zones” there is now a Belt of Actual Control created, which has changed the total border paradigm from what existed pre-2020.

The war Israel vs Hamas, Hezbollah, Houthis and Iran.

  • Following a surprise attack on Israel by Gaza based militant group Hamas on 07 Oct 23, an armed conflict has been taking place in the Gaza Strip and Israelsince 7 October 2023. About 1,200 people were killed, and more than 250 were taken to Gaza as hostages,
  • One by one many other militant groups supported by Iran joined the conflict ; Lebanon based Hezbollah and Yemen based Houthis started targeting Israel or those supporting Israel.
  • The trade through red sea is already severely impacted by the Houthi militants and as a result ships are taking a long route from Cape of Good hope, thereby severely impacting the economy of many nations.
  • Meanwhile Israel continued acting violently and so More than 33,000 Palestinians in Gaza have been killed in air and artillery strikes carried out by the Israeli military in response.
  • Not only that the unabated and uncontrolled atatcks on civilian targets has brought misery to the local population residing in gaza ; to include health , food supplies and destruction.
  • Its now tit for tat and each warring side is issuing threat warnings to the other, sometimes Netanyahu gives and at times Iran.
  • The conflict as a result is ESCALATING .
  • One is reminded of Bapu's advise ; An eye for an eye will only make the whole world blind.

The saner nations have to compel these warring sides to walk half way and arrive at a COMPROMISE.

  • Iran’s supreme leader al khameini wrote “ The enemies of Islam have always tried to make us indifferent with regard to our shared identity as an Islamic Ummah. We cannot consider ourselves to be Muslims if we are oblivious to the suffering that a Muslim is enduring in #Myanmar, #Gaza, #India, or any other place.
  • India hits back. MEA spokes person immediately shot back calling this statement “ misinformed and unacceptable”. “Countries commenting on minorities are advised to look at their own record before making any observations about others.
  • India and Iran tend to share a good relationship, illustrated by strong economic ties. recently, they had signed a 10-year contract to develop and operate the Iranian port of Chabahar, on Iran’s southeastern coast as a gateway to exports to Iran, Afghanistan and Central Asia, allowing it to bypass the ports of Karachi and Gwadar in rival Pakistan.
  • This statement is nothing but an attempt to project themselves as the saviour of muslims all over the world. Nothing beyond that should be read . Soon the Business as usual shall continue.
  • The News can not be hidden and we should not forget that such news can haunt us at some time in future when the chips are down. .

  • The ED had arrested six AAP leaders incl Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, and filed six chrgesheets suspected for money laundering and corruption during the formulation and implementation of the excise policy for 2021–2022 by the Delhi government.
  • The agency has alleged that the accused were in touch with Kejriwal to formulate the excise policy that resulted in undue benefits to them in return for which they paid kickbacks to the AAP.
  • A total of 16 people were arrested in this case till now.
  • However, despite keeping them for more than six months some even for a year , neither the CBI nor the ED could prove any charge and all five of them have been released on bail.
  • The issue is not bail only but what the judges have said in their judgement .
    • despite granting bail unanimously, the two Supreme Court judges differed on the legality of the arrest.
    • One judge remarked that The appellant's arrest does not suffer from illegality, however the issue is of liberty.... Prolonged incarceration amounts to unjust deprivation of liberty,"
    • On the other hand, Justice Bhuyan came down heavily on the CBI, saying Kejriwal's arrest after he secured bail in the ED case was only to frustrate the AAP chief's release from prison. And CBI should not behave like a Caged parrot.
    • 11 years back one sc judge Justice RM Lodha had commented that CBI is acting as a caged parrot and now Justcie Bhuyan said the same .
    • Implying, neither the Institute i.e CBI has changed and nor the politics of this country.
    • As a common man who has nothing to gain or lose from whosoever comes to power it would not be an understatement that the Biggest Goonda is the sarkar, whichever party is running it. They care little for law and constitution. Sadly, I could not find a suitable synonym for Goonda. However, its maning is given in Cambridge dictionary.

  • Rape in Medical College Kolkota.
    • The rapes have become a political power game.
    • The seriousness of this violent crime and the increasing incidence of rape in our towns and villages are of no concern for those in Governance ; may be at the centre or in states. It only helps them to settle political scores , the victim is of no concern to them.
    • Political One upmanship - victim is of no concern
    • Why only rapes even lynching by cow vigilantes and murders are given political colour. Look at what happened in Mahrashtra, The accused of Badlapur sexual assault was killed in an encounter by the Police and the ruling party is patting its back that they gave justice ;Tabad Tor and blaming the opposition that they have sympathy for the accused.
    • Nothing can change till we become APOLITICAL. I do not foresee anything happening till we stop looking at things from the prism of religion and politics and start thinking apolitically. Our politically vitiated minds do not allow us to act unitedly, and as a result the politicians have successfully divided us in segments ; dalit, obc, thakurs, rajputs, , brahmins, Hindus, muslims, Christians.and so on.
    • Hence we justify the acts based on our political affiliations. Kyun Cong rajyon mey nahin ho raha hai, to tumhaare BJP key rajyon mey nahin ho raha hai. We have unconsciously divided the states into BJP , Cong , AAP etc.
    • News travels and we make a mockery of ourselves.

  1. Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi went to Russia - his first bilateral visit in the third term, He was there from 08-09 July 2024 and thereafter went to Austria 09-10jul. Now when the entire west is standing against Putin and has placed all kinds of sanctions , it is natural to ask why did PM visit Russia at this hour.

Perhaps ;

One. Russia’s Shift towards Beijing. Probably on the top of his mind was Moscow's gradual drift towards Beijing. Ever since Russia's invasion of Ukraine and the consequent western sanctions on Moscow, President Vladimir Putin has become increasingly close to his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping.

In May, President Vladimir Putin visited Beijing, and had also met Chinese leader Xi Jinping in Kazakhstan ahead of this year's Shanghai Cooperation Organization meeting, which Prime Minister Modi did not attend. The recent meetings between Putin and Xi might have raised some concerns in India about Russia's increasing closeness to China,

Two. A Common -cause in the Changing geo-political situation. May be the two countries are finding common cause against the West - led by United States - in the emerging geopolitical situation following the Russia-Ukraine war.

Three. Russia is not cornered. Aleksei Zakharov, a Moscow-based expert on Russia-India relations, told The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) that "India wants to ensure Russia has alternatives and that it isn’t cornered and doesn’t have to put all its eggs into the Chinese basket."

Four. India’s ties are not getting diluted. Former foreign secretary and ambassador to Russia Kanwal Sibal said that PM Modi's visit aims to end any misgivings that India's ties with Russia are being diluted due to Western pressure.

Both the countries have been close allies ever since the days of the Cold War, with Russia being the top supplier of arms to India for many years.

Moreover, India also stepped up its purchase of discounted Russian oil following the Western sanctions, despite initial objections from US and some European countries.

According to WSJ, strong ties with Russia are imperative for India especially due to its deteriorating relations with China following the Galwan Valley clash of 2020.

Five. Difficult to Contain China in the Region. As Nandan Unnikrishnan, head of the Eurasia program at the Observer Research Foundation, a New Delhi think tank, told WSJ that if Russia becomes a "junior ally of China", it will be impossible to contain Beijing in the region.

Conclusion.

So, in view of all these India will have to tread a fine line as it tries to balance its ties with US, which has been leading the sanctions call against Russia since the invasion.

Finally , this visit has surely antagonised the US . US Ambassador Eric Garcetti, while addressing a press conference in New Delhi on Thursday, indirectly criticised the meeting saying that India should not take the US's friendship "for granted".

Meanwhile, US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan cautioned New Delhi that a "bet on Russia as a long-term, reliable partner is not a good bet" and Moscow would side with Beijing over New Delhi in case of a conflict

2. Terror attacks in Doda, Kathua, Poonch, Rajauri . The recent surge in terror attacks in the Jammu region, south of the Pir Panjal range, has sounded an alarm among security agencies. Ground observations suggest a strategic shift by Pakistan's intelligence agency, ISI, shifting its focus from Kashmir to South of Pirpanjal, where it has never been successful..

The terror attacks in Jammu have been of high impact. In the past 32 months, 70 people, including 52 security personnel and 18 civilians have been killed in terror incidents in Jammu region. One reason for this shift could be the changing geopolitical situation. On 27 Jul One Pakistani Border action team even attacked Indian Post. BATs had become a thing of past

Lets examine why this sudden surge ;

One. Jammu, Doda, Rajouri, Poonch have diverse population and Jammu particularly has strategic significance, where these militant groups aim to exploit communal tensions and create discord. Reports indicate that at least 50 foreign terrorists have infiltrated into the forests.

Two. Lieutenant General BS Jaswal (retd), Gen Hasnain have pointed out that troop density south of the Pir Panjal range has decreased due to redeployment of forces to Ladakh amid the ongoing standoff with China along the Line of Actual Control, which the Pak supported terror groups are now exploiting.

Three. There are few changes that have taken place since Indian Govt had started thumping its chest after the two strikes across the LC. Those changes are ;

Alpha. USA is no more engaged and is bleeding in Afghanistan. It does not have to pressure Pakistan anymore and is out of this India- Pakistan saas bahu feud.

Bravo. So, like the Indian External minister often talks about India’s Strategic freedom and freedom of choice, so does the US also has. It helped Pakistan to get out of Financial Action Task Force (FATF) grey list and also helped secure financial aid from IMF to stabilise its economy. It does not want to leave that leverage that it enjoys over Pakistan and become totally dependent on China. That’s in India’s favour also.

Charlie. Russia’s attack on Ukraine further complicated the situation for India as our old ally started getting closer to China.

Delta. Our relations with China nose-dived post Galwan and threat to Ladakh . As a result the 3500 kms of LAC has to be guarded like LC wherein every inch is guarded. So, Chinese have succeeded in dissipating our resources all over . The more this threat grows on LAC the more difficult it will become for us to focus on LC and areas in depth in Kashmir.

Four. Given the fact that article 370 has been abrogated and the centre in its enthusiasm thought that it can bull doze and side line the old leaders of Kashmir and be able to bring in young ones in the main stream of Indian politics has perhaps antagonised even those who have been standing firm with India against all odds. One should not take lightly the statement of Omar Abdullah here , he had said ; had we known in 1947 that Indian muslims will be treated in this manner, we would have taken a different decision. Although he lost but lets not forget he lost to some one whose love for India is well known. Hence, taking a call to hold elections is going to be tough for the Govt.

All the above including the deteriorating communal situation in the country, we as a nation are heading towards tumultuous times as far as security is concerned.

3. Tragedy at Hathras. On 02 July a tragedy struck at Hathras when a Baba’s congregation led to a stampede in which 121 people lost their lives mainly women and children. The tragedy at Hathras was unfortunately inevitable, much like it could have been during Char dham yatra in Uttarakhand this year when thousands crowded the place lacking the necessary infrastructure. It could have also occurred in Sehore last year when lakhs gathered at an Ashram near Bhopal.

Many are blaming the administration for being negligent and not making adequate arrangements for the devotees who came at the call of their Baba. However, few are questioning the Baba himself, who claims to have magical powers and deceives thousands.

The tragedy involving the followers of Bhole Baba underscores my point: religious faith often lacks rationale, logic, and is completely blind. Nehruji's effort to instil a scientific temper in society, as outlined in Article 51A, is now largely vilified.

Religion is NOW the corner stone of all our political and social life and there is no escaping.

When the educated class fails to question and is itself ensnared by what Marx described as the "opium of the masses," how can it lead by example and encourage rural folks to develop a scientific temper and question these Babas? The educated class has its own Babas who speak English.

The educated class therefore has lost all moral authority to question others on this path of religious intoxication.

Secondly, it is pointless to blame the Govt officials for the negligence because, the Ruling Govt has not left them capable to question the Babas, Swamis, Kanwarias and so on.

One can refer to my article of Feb 2023 , wherein I questioned the path we as a society are treading.

If we introspect dispassionately, we would notice that we are surely being driven towards obscurantism, orthodoxy by a nexus of swamis, politicians, and many other stake holders.

Finally, if we do not mend our ways even now, things would further slip out of our hands and we shall take India to medievalism. Instead of routing out the practices of medieval era we are, in the guise of culture and faith encouraging them. We have stopped questioning them and rather humiliating those who are questioning those medieval practices and irrational beliefs.

A patriot takes pride in their country for its actions and achievements, while a nationalist displays unwavering pride regardless of the country's deeds.

As another scholar noted, patriotism embodies a commitment to the entire nation, inclusive of all its inhabitants, whereas nationalism prioritizes one group above all others ; treating others as second grade citizens.

General Charles de Gaulle, who led the Free France movement against Nazi Germany and later served as President of France, aptly defined patriotism as ; “ prioritizing love for one's own people, whereas nationalism manifests as animosity towards those outside that group”.

Building upon this, French President Emmanuel Macron emphasized that patriotism and nationalism stand in direct opposition, with nationalism constituting a betrayal of genuine patriotism.

Therefore, while nationalism fixates on factors like language and cultural homogeneity, patriotism centers on shared values and beliefs, nurturing a deep-seated love for the nation and its people.

For example, a nationalist might insist on linguistic uniformity and insist non hindi speakers to learn and speak in Hindi, whereas a patriot embraces diversity as long as individuals abide by the nation's laws and show affection for their homeland.

However, in recent years, many patriotic Indians, particularly under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, have transitioned towards hyper-nationalism. This shift has resulted in a concerning erosion of cherished national values such as justice, secularism, equality, fraternity, and liberty.

Criticizing the current government is often misconstrued as anti-national, while acts of violence against minorities are sometimes celebrated under the guise of nationalism.

For instance ; The nationalists get a sadistic pleasure when innocent muslims are lynched to death (as if they deserved this death), or when a muslim praying on road is kicked from behind(little realsing they themselves during ganesh utsav, durga pujans flout the same rules), they keep mum when a woman is being molested by a hindu and call them anti nationals, who take up that cause, they( Nationalists) celebrate when the elected MLAs are hijacked and taken to a remote corner of the country inorder to topple a state Govt, and they get worried when the National bank hides data of corporate donations and corruption is covered up.

These nationalists are not realising that By prioritizing a narrow interpretation of national identity over the well-being and rights of all citizens, they are undermining the fabric of society and eroding trust in democratic institutions.

History offers ample warning of the dangers posed by unchecked nationalism. Adolf Hitler's rise in Germany and Mussolini's ascent in Italy both exploited patriotic sentiments to advance destructive nationalist agendas.

Therefore, it's crucial to distinguish between patriotism, which fosters unity and inclusivity, and nationalism that encourages Sychophancy and  often leads to division, hatred, violence, and suffering.

A patriot takes ; I AM OK , YOU ARE OK position , whereas a Nationalist takes a position ; I AM OK YOU ARE NOT OK.

Become a Patriot and love the country for its values and beliefs.

Winning and losing is a part of sport and sportsmen do take the setbacks in their stride. However, this loss in the world cup final held at Ahmedabad for me was very interesting.

Although the loss was disheartening, but my gut feeling was that the defeat was just round the corner.

This gut feeling was not based on law of averages but it was based on the way we have been playing cricket in recent years.

For instance , the test matches that are played in india often end up in just 2-3 days whereas abroad they often as a rule go up to 4th and the 5th day. In 2021, the India vs England test matches played in England went right upto 4th and 5th day where as those played in India often finished on 3rd day.

Although, it is widely accepted as a norm, that the host country prepares the pitches that suit their bowlers and batters but if the match goes on to the penultimate day, and in india it finishes on 3rd day itself , it is an indicator that we are breaching that fine line of manipulation by a large margin.

If anyone has doubts, one can examine data, its easily available ; How many test matches in India finished in 2 to 3 days and how many test matches abroad reached the penultimate day.

If some spin bowlers can not find a place to play for India when it tours abroad and finest of fast bowlers have to sit out for a domestic test series, it speaks volumes about the kind of pitches we are making to win.

Another good example that comes to my mind is the recent World test match final, that was played in England, in which India lost to Australia. India as per the rankings was below England and it had to defeat England by a huge margin, so as to enter the Final. Thus, what we did was, we made an under prepared track, where we not only finished the test match in just three days but also defeated England with a huge margin, thereby ensuring that we enter the Finals.

This is not fair.

What went wrong.

Ironically, India once again consciously chose a slow track for this D day game to be played at Ahmedabad. Rahul Dravid and his staff landed up 2-3 days in advance in order to inspect the pitch, rather to ensure that the pitch is prepared as per India’s design. Thus it was made a Slow and sluggish pitch, so as to discard any advantage to the Australian fast bowlers. The plan was simple , if we bat first the ball will come slow and Australian fast bowlers will not be able to get any advantage, and our batsmen will go hammer and tongs against the Aussies. Thereafter, before the dew appears our bowlers under the lights would be able send half of the Australians back to pavilion. And if we bat second then the dew will make Batting easier, as the ball would not swing nor spin.

Unfortunately, the think tank undermined the Aussies think tank. The Aussies had their own plan ready to deal with this Indian strategy. They on a sluggish pitch , pitched the ball short of good length and also slowed down their pace, including the spinners. There by forcing the Indians to play cross bat rather than jumping out and tonking the ball straight . The Indian batsmen now found it very difficult to hit boundaries on a pitch where the ball was not coming on bat properly , this explains why in middle overs our batsmen found it difficult to hit boundaries.

It is unfortunate that we ourselves, intentionally, not only undermined the capabilities of our bowlers and did not give them a pitch where they could unleash their full potential. Perhaps, our strategy still revolves around Kohli, Sharma and Shreyas , wherein we doctor the pitch to suit the batters rather than the bowlers.

I am sure, had Rahul Dravid and his staff left it to the curators , we would have had a sporting pitch where our bowlers , who were any day better than the Australians , could have demolished the Aussie batting line up.

Conclusion.

Thus the India’s pitch ploy did not work as the Aussies were prepared for it and crossed the line with lot of spare overs.

No wonder the International Cricket Council’s independent pitch consultant Andy Atkinson, who oversees preparation at global tournaments, raised doubts about the pitch selection process and wrote an e mail ;

.“As a result of these actions, one must speculate if this will be the first-ever ICC CWC [World Cup] final to have a pitch which has been specifically chosen and prepared to their stipulation at the request of the team management and/or the hierarchy of the home nation board, Or will it be selected or prepared without favouritism for either of the sides competing in the match in the usual manner, and unquestionably because it is the usual pitch for the occasion?”

What further made it worst was the muted response of the crowd, as if it had gathered to celebrate India’s victory rather than witnessing a Good cricket match.

You can build a huge glittering stadium but can not inculcate SPORTING CULTURE.

Losing a game is not of much consequence in sports, provided you are learning from defeats. One of the most important lessons that this defeat can teach us is ; STOP MANIPULATING THE PITCHES, Ensure that we prepare sporting pitches so that Test matches in India finish on 4th/5th day.

About Us

Our journey as a modern nation statestarted in 1947 with the historic speech byPandit Jawaharlal Nehru, with 95% illiteracy, barely any industry and transport system, armed forces that were divided due to partition lacking equipment was largely in disarray, if there were guns- then the dial sights were taken away by Pakistanis, making the guns ineffective, if there were files- maps were taken way by Pakistanis, if there were battalions, half the men had gone away to Pakistan and so on.
